Building improvements: materials, time and lot space
Each improvement now has its own material bill and uses permanent lot space. Refits scale with the size of the operation; fixed storage additions keep a fixed bill.
Building improvements now require materials suited to the work: wiring for lighting, terminals for extra checkouts, and structural materials for extensions. Small refits take less time than major expansions, while improvements to larger operations need more materials and work.
Every new improvement uses lot space. The upgrade picker shows the area required and how much space will remain. Projects that do not fit cannot start. Space is reserved during construction, becomes occupied when the work finishes, and is released if you cancel. A relocated business must also fit its improvements and production lines on the new lot.
Material estimates use local prices. Delivery and builder fees are quoted through the usual construction flow. Projects already started keep their saved materials, time and space requirements.
