Panama joins the world, and the canal links the two oceans

World Logistics

Panama is the tenth country, with Panama City's port on the canal. Ships from the US Gulf and Atlantic coasts now reach the Pacific and Australia through the canal, Pacific ships reach Brazil the same way, and Los Angeles sails to Sydney and Houston to Brazil direct.

Until now there was no sea lane between the Atlantic and the Pacific: a New York shipment bound for Sydney sailed around South America and a Los Angeles shipment bound for Brazil was trucked to Houston first.

- Panama. Eleven cities, a national carrier, five airports and the Panama City cargo port, which lies in a canal basin that touches the Gulf of Mexico, both Atlantic basins and all three Pacific basins. Panama uses the US dollar. - Direct lanes. The North Pacific now reaches the South Pacific directly, so Los Angeles to Sydney is one sailing instead of a call at Honolulu, and the Gulf of Mexico reaches the South Atlantic, so Houston to Brazil no longer goes by way of New York. - Coastal freighters are based at Panama City as at every other thin port. - Panama is kept simulated whether or not anyone registers there, so its fuel tanks refill for the ships and aircraft that call.
