Unpaid headquarters staff no longer stay forever

Economy

A corporation that had lost its headquarters address could keep its HQ staff without ever paying them. Wages are billed again, and a team that goes unpaid for three game days in a row now leaves, whatever the reason.

Your headquarters staff are paid every game day, in the city of your headquarters office. If your corporation cannot afford the wages, the day counts as unpaid, and after three unpaid game days in a row the team leaves.

That rule had a gap. A corporation whose headquarters address had been wiped by an office-market update in August had nowhere for payroll to be booked — so nothing was charged, nobody was paid, the unpaid days were never counted, and the staff stayed seated indefinitely.

That is fixed. From now on:

- A lost lease does not end your payroll. The office you lost stays your legal and payroll address until you move your headquarters, so wages and payroll tax keep being charged in that city. - A day that cannot be paid at all still counts. If your corporation has no headquarters address on record, nothing is charged for that day, but it counts toward the same three-day limit as a day you could not afford. - After three unpaid game days in a row the team leaves. Staff return to the job market and executives to the candidate pool.

The affected corporations have had their former address restored. No back pay is charged for the game days that went unbilled.

A headquarters without office space also adds nothing to your HQ efficiency. Rent or build an office, move your headquarters there, and you can hire again.
