Leave a grant you no longer want

Grants Competition

An accepted milestone that turned out to be unreachable no longer holds one of your slots forever, and a queued heat entrant can step back out. Leaving starts a one-week cooldown on that kind of grant, and leaving a heat that has already started is a forfeit.

Until now, accepting a grant was final. A milestone whose objective turned out to be out of reach sat in one of your three slots (six with Pro) until its deadline, and there was no way to give it back.

Every accepted grant now has a Leave button, and what it does depends on whether anything has been measured yet:

- A corporation milestone — the slot is freed immediately and nothing is scored. - A heat still gathering entrants — you are queued, not scored, so you simply step out and the heat carries on without you. - A heat that has started — leaving is a forfeit. The heat already took everyone's starting figures, so your entry stays on the board for the full seven days, scores nothing and cannot be paid. Removing it instead would quietly improve everyone else's placing after the fact.

Leaving starts a one-week cooldown on that kind of grant — leagues, corporation milestones and older grants are counted separately, so leaving a milestone never blocks a league. The cooldown is what stops entering a heat, seeing the challenge, leaving and re-entering the next one with a fresh starting line. You also cannot rejoin the exact grant you left.
